Introduction

Studio Lady’s premises on Torrisholme Road, Liverpool sat under a tired, end-of-life asbestos roof. RML stripped it out under controlled conditions and installed a new built-up system — a walkable liner panel on a bar-and-bracket spacer, 260mm Cladmatt insulation and a new top sheet — with new gutters and downpipes throughout. The asbestos cladding to the main entrance was also removed and replaced with a new cladding panel, transforming the look of the building.

The Challenge

The existing covering was an ageing asbestos roof that had reached the end of its serviceable life. It needed to come off safely and under full control, and a modern, thermally efficient roof put back in its place — along with the tired asbestos cladding to the main entrance — without dragging the programme out or disrupting the surrounding residential streets.

The Solution

RML managed the job end to end. The existing asbestos roof covering was removed under controlled conditions, then a new built-up roof system was installed: a walkable liner panel fixed on a bar-and-bracket spacer system, with 260mm Cladmatt insulation laid between the liner and a new profiled top sheet. New gutters and downpipes were fitted throughout. At the main entrance, the asbestos cladding was stripped out and replaced with a new cladding panel — transforming the appearance of the building. Managed by Ciaran, strip to handover in three and a half weeks.
