Introduction

Lowbridge Court — a residential block in Garston, Liverpool — had reached the end of the road with a failed flat roof membrane and a critically undersized drainage system. MPB appointed RML to deliver a full overlay using the Lancastria 20-year system, with a complete drainage redesign in the same visit. Project completed a full week ahead of schedule with a 20-year manufacturer-backed guarantee.

The Challange

Two problems in one roof. The existing membrane had failed and needed full remediation. But the bigger issue was drainage — outlets were too few, too
small and positioned too high to actually shed water. Add in core drilling through parapets, retained mansafe systems to test and certify, and residents continuing to live in the building below, and the brief was anything but straightforward.

The Solution

RML delivered a full Lancastria 20-year overlay across all main roof areas, upstands, parapets, penetrations, rooflights and roof hatches, with localised reinforcement and partial strip where the existing membrane was too far gone. The drainage was rebuilt from scratch: more outlets, bigger diameters, lowered levels and core-drilled through parapets with full making-good of masonry and pointing. Mansafe systems and ladder access retained, tested and certified. Working foreman on site at all times, Contracts Department overseeing programme, materials, waste and safety.
