Introduction

RML Roofing Contractor was appointed to carry out a full roof refurbishment at Blacks, Salisbury, encompassing all pitched slate roofs and flat roof areas across the building. The objective was to strip back the existing roofing systems and replace them with modern, high-performance materials – delivering a weathertight, low-maintenance solution for the long term.

Scope Of Works

A full R&D survey was completed prior to works, returning no risks. Full perimeter scaffolding was erected with every lift boarded, supporting both the roofing works and concurrent external decorations by a separate contractor. All slate elevations were stripped, re-felted and re-battened with breathable felt and treated batten, then re-slated in Spanish slate. A dry ridge system was installed throughout for a maintenance-free finish. Lead soakers and flashings were replaced with new lead to Code. All flat roof areas were stripped to deck and recovered with new single-ply membrane systems.

The completed works delivered a comprehensive roof renewal across all elevations and flat roof areas, providing the client with a robust, modern roofing solution. The introduction of breathable underlays, a dry ridge system, and new single-ply flat roof coverings significantly improves the building’s long-term weathertightness and reduces future maintenance requirements. Works were completed to a high standard, and the client expressed their satisfaction upon completion.
