Asbestos Removal
Nisa Local
Holywell
Introduction
Asbestos out. Composite in. Forecourt never shut.
The roof over the Nisa Local store and Texaco forecourt in Holywell was asbestos-containing cement sheet and needed licensed removal before anything new could go on. RML stripped it, re-covered it in composite panel and renewed the gutters and cappings in a three-week programme — with the shop, pumps and car wash trading throughout.
The Challenge
The existing covering incorporated asbestos-containing material, so nothing could be installed until a licensed strip was complete. The complication was the site itself: shop, fuel pumps and car wash all stayed open, with customer footfall, vehicle movements and deliveries running under and around the works every day. That put the pressure on sequencing, segregation and daily safety management rather than on the roofing itself.
The Solution
RML erected scaffold access around the building perimeter and worked section by section, keeping the roof weathertight at every stage and holding clear, segregated routes for customers, deliveries and forecourt traffic. The licensed asbestos removal phase ran under strict controls to protect staff, customers and the public, with daily meetings held with on-site staff to coordinate each day’s work. New composite panel covering, trimline gutters and associated PPC cappings followed behind the strip — one contractor, one programme, delivered in three weeks.
